Community Program: Genealogy Websites You (Probably) Aren’t Using – But (Probably) Should Be

September 21 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT

Every genealogist is familiar with Ancestry.com, but there is so much more available for your genealogy research! Learn about other websites that can help you discover your ancestors’ stories and break down those pesky brick walls. And the best part? Many of them are free! We’ll talk about sites for newspapers, local histories, maps, and more, and review some of the latest artificial intelligence technology and tools to help you understand your DNA results.

Jessica Stern is a professional genealogist and owner of Black Sheep Genealogy in Woodinville. She has extensive United States research experience, particularly in the Midwest, New England, and mid-Atlantic regions. She applies her knowledge of DNA and genetic genealogy to cold case investigations, working with the team at Firebird Forensics, a nonprofit founded by Barbara Rae-Venter, who solved the notorious Golden State Killer case. Jessica was awarded Outstanding Volunteer Genealogist for the Pacific Northwest division by the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, in 2016. Jessica lives in Woodinville with her husband Adrian, dog Dash, and two cats who prefer to remain anonymous.
